A Sportvision and ESPN collaboration, the Emmy-Award winning KZone™ System, launched in 2001, is the first-ever, real-time video presentation of baseball's strike zone. This system outlines the strike zone boundaries for every pitch as the batter sets his stance, while also highlighting the position of the ball as it crosses the plate – or misses it. KZone is also an extremely accurate system, tracking the pitch to within 2/5ths of an inch. Not only can KZone be used on individual pitches to show ball location, but it can also be used through a sequence of pitches to show how a pitcher "works" a batter. It was this pitch tracking and virtual strike zone technology that won Sportvision its second Emmy by providing an incredibly accurate portrayal of the way pitchers “work” batters.
