The FreezeCam system allows broadcasters to replay game action, then “freeze” the action while zooming in, out or around the frame to show player’s locations setting up for the given play.  Multiple points of interest can be chosen and tight shots of any player in frame can be viewed. The system then returns to the original frame of view and “un-freezes” to continue the play where it left off. Because FreezeCam uses high resolution still imagery, zooming in and out or panning accross can be done without sacrificing image quality.

FreezeCam becomes a significant broadcast tool during replay challenges, since, given the correct framing, it allows the broadcaster to zoom in directly on the objects in question: whether a foot stepped out of bounds, how an offensive player got open for a shot, etc.
