Rick Cavallaro - Chief Scientist

As Chief Scientist Rick Cavallaro is involved in all of the company's technology functions, including research & development, testing, television field operations and project management. Rick has led and/or contributed to the development and deployment of enhancements for every major sport on every media platform, including the design and implementation of the two-time Emmy-winning 1st and Ten virtual first-down line and the Emmy-winning KZone baseball strike zone tracking system.

In Rick’s previous position he served as S.V.P. Operations. In this role Rick was responsible for transitioning Sportvision’s cutting-edge technologies into functional products that integrate seamlessly into the live production environment, and ensuring that our systems and teams met the high expectations of the broadcaster at each event.

Prior to Sportvision’s inception Rick served as V.P., Development at News Corporation's Advanced Technology Center (A.T.C.). Rick has a background in aerospace engineering, and his responsibilities at ATC included evaluating technologies, overseeing contract performance with subcontractors, product development and forecasting. Prior to A.T.C., Rick served as Manager, Special Projects at Etak. During his final year at Etak, Rick served as project manager and lead engineer for the development and deployment of the FoxTrax hockey puck tracking system.

Rick currently holds 20 patents in the area of computer enhancement of live sporting events, as well as a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Ga. Tech and an M.S. in Dymanics and Controls from U.C.L.A.
